The internet is awash with forums. They cover all sorts of subjects. There are some that have come and gone in the blink of an eye and others that have lasted for many years. Popular forums are a valuable source of information for anyone who has found the need to perform any kind of research, especially with regards to buying software or signing up for a service.
And recently I came across another…and that has given me the idea to do a post about some of the forums I know about and use, some on a regular basis, others less so.
The first forum to mention is the one I recently discovered:
Backlinks Forum
This is a very new forum. It’s only a few months old and already it has 1700 members. The forum is free to join and will provide you with a ton if information on all aspects of backlinking. The main categories include:
- Main Backlinks & Linkbuilding Discussion
- Backlinking Tools, Software & Backlink Boosting
- On-Page SEO Discussion Forum
- Matt Cutts’ Best SEO Videos (Read Between The Lines)
- Getting From Page 1 Up To #1
- Member Recommended WSOs (Warrior Special Offers)
- FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About Backlinking
- Glossary Of Backlinks & Linkbuilding Related Terms
- Classified Ads
A very helpful feature of Backlinks Forum is the case study area. This is where Terry Kyle (the guy behind the forum) helps out members by studying why a site isn’t ranking well and offering advice on methods that could be used for improvement.
I have started to spend a bit of time at BF, it’s very useful – Backlinks Forum
WebProWorld
WebProWorld has been around for yonks and has an established community of expert webmasters, SEOers, internet marketers and bloggers offering advice to newbies and sharing ideas with the community.
The forum covers four main topics – Search Engines, Marketing, Site Design, IT Discussion and eCommerce – with further subdivisions of each section.
A lot of the members are very friendly and freely offer advice if you ask nicely. They take the time to answer questions as fully as possible and often go out of their way to help.
A great forum full of useful information.
Total members today – 113,057 – WebProWorld
Warrior Forum
Warrior Forum is for internet marketers and there is a real feel of the hard sell on some posts. Not all, but some. I have spent a lot of time reading the posts on Warrior Forum and find it an invaluable resource when it comes to researching software and services related to online marketing. It is more often than not my first point of call when I need to research a product such as software or an eBook.
A lot of affiliates offer their products here, often at a discount price, under the banner WSO (Warriors Special Offer).
The membership count as of today is 184,756 – Warrior Forum
Webmaster World
I don’t spend as much time on here as I did a few years ago. It covers a lot of the same subjects as WebProWorld, but to get full access there is a subscription fee of $89 for six months and $149 for twelve months (at the time of writing).
It is worth joining if you can afford the fee, but you could probably get your questions answered for free elsewhere – Webmaster World
ProBlogger.Community
Another subscription only forum. You might recongnise the ProBlogger name here, and you would be right to assume Darren Rowse from Problogger is the man behind Problogger.Community.
The forum is for bloggers. It allows them to showcase their blogs, get feedback on the work they are producing and network with like-minded people.
Recommended if you want to pay the $5.95 per month membership fee. The plus side of the membership here is that you can cancel at any time.
Membership currently stands at 10,198 – ProBlogger.Community
Digital Point
Digital Point is a massive forum, but despite this, or maybe because of this, it is probably one of my least favorite.
Members discuss all of the usual topics related to life online with new posts added by the minute. Lots of posts from Digital Point rank well in Google.
The current member list stands at almost 350,000 – Digital Point
