How to use custom characters in a WordPress post

There are times when you need to use custom characters in your WordPress blog posts. Special characters such as the copyright symbol ©, the pound sign £ or the trademark symbol ™ .

If this is the case, and your keyboard doesn’t support the character you want to use, you can enter them directly from WordPress.

How to add custom characters into a WordPress post

First of all, you have to make sure you are editing your post using the Visual editor:

Now make sure you can see the “Kitchen Sink” version of the formatting buttons. It should look like this:

If you can’t see the two rows of buttons, hit the button on the far right hand side (of the top row).

Place your cursor in the post where you want the custom character to appear.

Click on the icon outlined in red in the following image:

You should then see the following window. These are all the custom characters available to you:

Click on symbol you want to use and check your post.

If everything has gone according to plan you should now see the symbol you wanted in your post.
